ABOUT DAN:

Dan Head ShotDan has scored more than a dozen feature films, shorts and television shows.  He has written songs, jingles and themes.  He was a contributing composer on CBS’s The Amazing Race and has collaborated with celebrated composer Michael Convertino. In 2008 he was named one of the top composers to watch by film music journalist Daniel Schweiger.  Since building Newmagic Music and Sound, he has worked on films with such actors as Christian Slater, Eva Longoria, Sharon Stone and many others.

Dan’s first love and greatest strength is music, and he has worked both as a composer and music editor.  These talents elevate everything he does in sound design and mixing.  Directors and producers rely on him for his judgement, steady and calm demeanor, and ability to handle virtually any situation.  Another of his strengths is ADR, as he is both a technical perfectionist and completely dedicated to the importance of performance.  “Good enough” simply isn’t good enough.

Dan double majored in computer science and electrical engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, but found his greatest joys to be musical theater productions and an a cappella group he formed (which still thrives today, 20 years later).  He opted to study recording engineering in Orlando, which led him to Soundelux, an audio post-production company based in Hollywood.  After seven years at Soundelux’s Orlando office, he moved to Hollywood and spent a year at Modern Music while studying film scoring at UCLA Extension.  He then founded Newmagic Entertainment in 2001, and has been growing ever since.  In 2007 he began construction of Newmagic Music and Sound, a custom designed facility build from the ground up to serve all music and audio post-production needs.
